RUGBY UNION RULES
Y7-9 Will be played as triangular friendly fixtures.
Year group fixture evenings throughout the year to help continuity .
All league results go to the Tony Miller Trophy for the top performing school.
Students may play for one age group only except at Year 11 level where any student can be selected.
Any boys playing up an age group must do so in accordance with RFU guidelines.
Y10 & 11 League Calculation:
4 points are awarded for a win.
2 points for a draw.
1 point for a loss .
Games must be claimed when teams do not fulfil fixtures. Failure to fulfil a fixture = 0 points.
Team obtaining a walkover win for opposition's failure to fulfil fixture = 4 points.
3 way will be played when possible. The team that arrives at the home venue will play first, and the two away teams will play second.
When 3 way fixtures have been played, the top 3 teams will participate in an end of season play off to become champions (at the venue of the 1st placed ream).
Where there are 2 groups in operation, the top 2 teams in each group will contest semi-finals and then finals. The group winners will be at home.
It is the responsibility of the away team to confirm that they will be attending the fixture.
League Guidelines:
1. Matches to be of two halves of 12 minutes.
2. Teams involved to officiate by agreement.
3. Matches should be of 15 a side or reduced numbers by agreement but no less than 12
4. The scrummage must be safe and if in doubt about the competence of the front rows the scrum will be uncontested.
5. Matches will be played to normal Rugby Union Laws, with application of the rugby continuum age guidelines being applied where relevant.
6. Year 7 matches will be 12-a-side with no back row (as in the Sussex Cup).
7. Teams must have a full equipped first aid bag on the touch line and a qualified first aider present.
Teams who have committed to playing in the league must fulfil their fixtures.
